Philip Tusa, Architect Submits Ideas to "Imagine Coney Island" Initiative

For many years I've been fascinated by Coney Island and the design lessons it provides.

The Municipal Art Society has established an initiative called "Imagine Coney" and has called for ideas to redevelop Coney.

Coney Island USA Freak Bar & Museum Gift Shop (Flickr) and other projects with Coney themes form the ideas submitted.

Grand Central Racquetball Club

The first project I'm presenting is the Grand Central Racquetball Club.

First, take a look at the slideshow: Flickr Show

This project exemplifies the relationship between urban scale and interior renovation.
I've been developing this idea for many years, and one of the key parts is the notion of pedestrian procession.

So, in the coming weeks, I'll be elaborating on this theme by showing other examples and writing about related issues.

I'll Start Today

I'm an architect who loves New York City.
.
.
99% of my projects are in and about New York City.
.
.
So, this blog will be about those projects and [show & tell] how they are a part of the city.
